A month late but i have been working on my Dissertation/Research Report which is now all complete! So i can now focus on my studio work! I have not done much of my studio work over Christmas and January as i have been to preoccupied with my Dissertation/Research Report. But that's not a bad thing; looking back on my work i have a fresh perspective with new ideas and now a new direction with where i want the work to go. Nothing drastic, just mainly the visual style. I want to change from a semi-realistic style to a more cartoony and graphic style. I want the design of the landscape, buildings, items, clothing etc to resemble flowers. With Rose's dress, when she moves her dress at the end tapers off into rose petals. Here are some initial sketches i have quickly come up with.
I have recently been inspired by the artwork of Brun Cores. I think his style is rather simple but the brush strokes add texture, movement and detail. I really enjoy how characterized and soft his work is, which is what i want to capture in mine.
This is the kind of direction i am now going with my work. I am focusing more on colour, making the feel of the game more uplifting, playful, cute and child like. This is moving away from the more realistic and darker tone that i originally intended. I am going to play around with styles and do some artist studies to experiment with.
